Camp Leadership

Debbie Isser

Born in the United States, Debbie came to Abuja in September 2021 to work at the Nigeria World Bank Office as a lead Governance Specialist. After coming to Tikvat Yisrael for the Jewish holidays and meeting the incredible community, she and Moshe decided to create a sustainable Summer camp experience to support the growing Jewish population in Nigeria.

Benj was born in France and spent a lot of time with the French Jewish Scouts where he eventually became a national trainer for heads of camp. Benj and Debbie met in Israel and moved to New York, Bosnia, and eventually to their current residence in Washington DC. He also works for the World Bank, focusing on francophone central Africa.

Prosper Ekwueme (Ariel Avraham)

Born in Adamawa and originally from Enugu, Prosper has embraced Nigeria’s vibrant Jewish community firsthand. Since moving to Abuja in 2019, he’s been committed to community impact. As a volunteer at Camp Sarah since 2023, Prosper has played a key role in empowering and deepening Jewish roots in Nigeria.

Originally from Anambra state, Moshe lived in Abuja for many years as a religious leader and cantor to the Jewish community at Tikvat Yisrael. He has served as a touring teacher to synagogues around Nigeria and as an “Al Hagova” specialist at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. He is now based in Philadelphie where he helped establish camp and co-rosh with Debbie.
